Australia’s real-life experience of the speed and exponential manner of the COVID-19 spread in March has still been a shock – emotionally, socially and financially. It has been surreal yet very real.
As a small consultancy, our ability to interact face to face with each other and the people we work with is critical. Over the last few weeks, we have had to face some large changes. Now, more than ever, we want to do the best that we can and do the work that we enjoy, which is work with each other and help our clients, industry colleagues and business partners.
We are in business for the long haul. It is important for us to let our people know how important they are to us. We will strive to keep our people engaged and working in the jobs that they have signed up for.
As we are a small business, we have activated our working from home plan.
We have embraced regular video calls and use that time to share ideas of how to maintain a healthy routine to work from home. There are some challenges for the introverts and extroverts among us. This may be around keeping time for yourself when in confined spaces with younger families or facing feelings of loneliness and what to do about those. For those of you that don’t know, I am a fully qualified yoga instructor and I wanted to share the coping strategies we focus on here at McGing:
- Create a schedule that looks like a normal day
- Call/video calls and share coping stories and keep connected. Diversity of approach in action! Keep smiling.
- Incorporate exercise wherever possible – go for a walk or run – moderate exercise raises body and helps the immune system. Or at home, use YouTube to do high-intensity training, yoga or meditation.
- Eat at regular times and avoid unhealthy snacking as much as you can.
Our industry colleagues
Superannuation funds, long term investors, friendly societies and insurers are going through unprecedented disruption.
We want to reassure you that we are here to help you. We are exploring how we can help you in this time and we would like to share our approach with anyone that has any challenges that have arisen due to COVID-19:
- we will reach out to you where we can.
- We are available to have a phone call or video-call
- We will listen to you and the challenges you are facing
- Where we can, we will share ideas, our thought leadership
- We can follow up with any materials that we have that can be shared
All of the above will be at no expense and with no commitment. We just want to provide any help that we can and in return, we are able to do the work that we love – which is trying to make financial sense of the future.
To that extent please call Neekhil or Sean anytime to see what we can do for you.
Our business partners
Our business partners who have been with us through our ups and downs over the last few years, we would like to show our support and maintain engagement with you. We also recognise that the support you provide to us is invaluable and we will aim to maintain and focus on our long term growth for McGing and we will continue to support your long term growth. We may need to partner a little differently but we will try to maintain as much as we can in this current environment.
